Dead Sea Cosmetics

Dead Sea cosmetics are primarily skin care products for everyone, men, women and children. One company does have foundation and powder for face makeup, but everything else is related to skin, nail and hair care. These products are made with minerals from the Dead Sea, the most saline body of water in the world. It has such a high mineral content, only one form of bacteria can survive in the water, and nothing else. This accounts for the name of the lake.

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth and does not drain into any other body of water. Water evaporates at an astonishing rate, and the level of the “sea,” which is an inland lake, drops about three feet per year now. The material left behind is salt, loaded with 21 different kinds of minerals. No other oceans on the planet contain 12 of these minerals.

The Dead Sea is 10 times saltier than any ocean and twice as salty as the Great Salt Lake in Utah. The River Jordan flows into the Dead Sea, but at a very slow rate. Three countries use the fresh river water for drinking, and only a little gets through to the lake. Scientists say it is possible that it will eventually dry up.

Many professionals in the health care field actually recommend using products with minerals from the Dead Sea for a myriad of medical complaints. It is reported to provide relief from psoriasis, arthritis, eczema, insomnia, skin allergies and stress. Apparently, soaking in the Dead Sea, or a mineral bath of Dead Sea ingredients, relieves muscle tension.

It is also purported to be beneficial for the treatment of acne, hair loss, cellulite, wrinkles, dry skin, dandruff and aging of the skin. Many products are anti-aging related. There are anti-aging gels for the neck and firming cream for the wrinkles and lines around the eye. There is also a “nourishing” skin cream for all-over body use that gives the skin what it needs to be healthy.

The facial cleansing products include mud masks, face peels, moisturizer, toner, and soap. Daytime and nighttime creams for the face provide moisture without oiliness. An “exfoliating salt body scrub” and body lotion keep the rest of the skin below the face and neck in good shape. A face and eye makeup remover is also available from Dead Sea product makers.

Most brands and products claim to be made from all-natural ingredients, and without preservatives or chemicals. Some items have other natural ingredients added to them, like aloe vera, or honey and milk. Cleansing and firming seem to be the main objectives of the Dead Sea cosmetics, with the end result of younger, healthier skin.
